Albuquerque was founded as a Spanish colony all the way back in 1706. Since the city is over 300 years old, it has had plenty of time to accumulate many historic landmarks. Visit a few of these landmarks to learn about the history of Albuquerque.

  1. Petroglyph National Monument

Petroglyph National Monument is one of the oldest historical sites in Albuquerque. It is one of the largest petroglyph sites in North America, with carvings dating back as far as 700 years ago. The monument features symbols and designs that were carved on many volcanic rocks by both the Spanish settlers and the Native Americans that originally lived there.

The monument contains four different hiking trails that let you explore different sections of the park. There is a 1.5-mile loop where you can view 300 petroglyphs in Piedras Marcadas Canyon, a 2.2-mile hike with 300 petroglyphs in Rinconada Canyon, and a short trail with 100 petroglyphs in Boca Negra Canyon. Petroglyph National Monument

Albuquerque’s West Mesa is known for its distinctive geology and topography, as well as rich cultural past. This elevated landmass was formed as a result of a series of eruptions that occurred over 100,000 years ago, and it now consists of a 17-mile basalt escarpment and five dormant volcanic cones. The basalt boulders that fell to the edge of the escarpment provided the Pueblo Indians and early Spanish settlers an ideal material for creating petroglyphs.

Encompassing an area of 7,244 acres, the Petroglyph National Monument was founded in 1990 to protect the almost 20,000 petroglyphs found on West Mesa. You can start your exploration of the national monument by visiting the Las Imagines Visitor Center, where you can obtain all the information you need about West Mesa. Then, take the well-maintained trails in the Boca Negra Canyon and the Piedras Marcadas Canyon to view the ancient petroglyphs and the remnants of the five dormant volcanoes. The Petroglyph National Monument is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. year-round. Read the rest of this entry »

A properly-maintained interior not only provides a more comfortable riding experience, it can also improve your safety and health. However, cleaning your vehicle’s cabin isn’t so straightforward because it has surfaces of different materials and nooks and crannies that are hard to reach. Follow these tips to clean and maintain different parts of your car’s interior.

Seats, Floor Mats, and Crevices

Vacuuming is arguably the single best way to keep your vehicle’s interior clean and fresh. It can remove loose dirt, dust, debris, and crumbs from the seats, floor mats, floors, and nooks and crannies inside your car. If you want the best results, use a high-power vacuum cleaner with a hose and attachments that can clean out even the smallest crevices. If you don’t have this type of vacuum cleaner, you can bring your car to a professional auto cleaning center.  Read the rest of this entry »
