2019 Ford Edge in Albuquerque, NM - Ford DealerOver the years, the Ford Edge has become one of the most sought-after midsize SUVs because of its well-roundedness and great value for the money. Despite being an SUV, it drives like a car and delivers impressive fuel economy. It also comes with a roomy and comfortable cabin and a long list of tech features to provide an enjoyable riding experience. This SUV seeks to maintain its competitive advantage in 2019 with a number of significant modifications and the addition of the ST model to its lineup. Check out these three features that will make you love the 2019 Ford Edge.

New ST Trim

While the Ford Edge has always delivered satisfactory performance, it seemed to lack the necessary intensity to stand out from the crowd. For 2019, it’ll get a much-needed dose of edginess in the form of the new ST model.

The 2019 Ford Edge ST is equipped with the same 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that powers the 2017 Edge Sport. However, it increases the engine’s power output to 335 horsepower from 315 horsepower in the Sport. Also, it produces a healthy 380 pound-feet of torque. The Edge’s fuel economy rating has not yet been revealed, but the EcoBoost V6 achieves 17/24 miles per gallon (city/highway) in the Sport.

In addition, the new Ford Edge ST offers more low-speed damping, stiffer springs, larger vented rear rotors, and an available performance package with better friction materials and front rotor venting. You can also opt for 21-inch five-spoke gloss-black wheels. The ST comes in an exclusive paint color called “Ford performance blue,” which extends to the lower bumper. Other styling details that set this trim apart from the regular Edge models include blacked-out hexagonal grilles, square dual exhaust tips, and the absence of the chrome strip at the rear.

New Safety Features

For 2019, the Ford Edge comes with a new post-collision braking system that prevents it from continuing to move following an initial crash. It also gets an evasive steering system that helps you apply an appropriate amount of steering to lower the chance of a collision, a first in a non-luxury vehicle. Additionally, there’s an adaptive cruise control system with lane centering and stop-and-go functionality to keep the Edge in its lane and at the right speed, so that it won’t hit the vehicle in front.

Improved Feature Content

The 2019 Ford Edge is fitted with a built-in modem with WiFi capability to create a hotspot that allows you connect up to 10 devices within a 50-foot range. With the FordPass Connect app, you can locate, unlock, and start your SUV remotely. The Edge’s software also supports the Alexa Voice Service, enabling you to speak to the digital assistant from your vehicle. There’s also a 12-speaker Harman audio system that’s specially tuned for the Edge.

With these improvements, the Ford Edge has become more appealing and versatile than ever. If you want to know if the latest Edge is the right option for you, feel free to arrange for a test drive.
